SELMA, Calif. – The 559 Fights #72 mixed martial arts fight card has been moved from
May 18th to May 25th because of a medical emergency within the organization.
The 16-bout card that features a main event 559 Fights Featherweight Title fight between
Enoch McCottrell and Vincent Gomez will still take place at the Rainbow Ballroom in
Fresno. Doors open at 6pm and first fight is at 7.
“Right now, first and foremost, I would ask our 559 Fights family and friends to send
prayers for Joey Perez and his family. This past week my business partner and friend was
diagnosed with cancer and needed emergency surgery,” 559 Fights owner and president
Jeremy Luchau said.
“Joey is a vital part of our operations, but he refused to let me cancel this event. He is
currently resting and recovering after surgery and our team is making all the right
adjustments to make this event happen in true 559 Fights fashion.”
The full fight card will be re-released early this week, as to ensure fighters, coaches and
teams are available to compete on May 25th.
“So far we haven’t had any issues with coaches, fighters and teams on the date change of
the event,” Luchau said. “McCottrell and Gomez are both still available and that will be a
great main event for us. One of the better in a really long time. Everything about our
event will remain the same from weighin location, to event location.”
559 Fights will also be organizing a raffle and some other fundraisers to help him and his
family through this time.
“We ask for prayers and privacy through this time,” Luchau added.
All tickets purchased through our various forms of ticketing for the May 18th event will
be accepted on May 25th.
